About us
Pretrial Services was created in 1969 to help the court make informed decisions about the people it releases from jail while a case is pending. In 1974, the office expanded to provide supervision services for some of those people released.
As of 2024, Pretrial Services has a unit that operates 24/7 to provide reports to the court and also has a supervision program that monitors more than 4,000 people out of custody on pending criminal charges or who are participating in the diversion program.
Mission statement
We assist the Court in making custody release decisions by using evidence-based practices to provide timely and accurate investigative reports, and we provide client supervision services that support early intervention, personal improvement, and the preservation of public safety.
